From birth to table... Pig 9403 enter pass "pig is born"!

xinhua reporter follows pig traders in search of "free meat"

Pork as a delicacy for daily consumption was once plagued by illegal additives such as clenbuterol, and many "problem pigs" were slaughtered privately to avoid supervision and flow to the table.

Better supervision of food safety has a direct bearing on the safety of more than 1.3 billion people across the country. At the 14th meeting of the Central Leading Group for Financial and Economic Affairs, General Secretary Xi Jinping stressed the need to strictly prevent at source, strictly control processes and strictly control risks, improve the food and drug safety supervision system, and strengthen the unity and authority.

Now, can the people eat "free meat"? Is the food safety gate closed tightly? With these problems, the reporter recently 48 hours of tracking, and rural brokers into fuqing city in Fujian province farms, slaughterhouses, farmers market, the whole chain of qualified pork "arrived" at the table the whole process.

The whole process of feeding without "privacy" injection medication can be checked

At dawn on Feb. 27, Cao and his partner, Li Zhengliang, drove a pickup truck from the Gaoshan town market to a pig farm 16 kilometers away. This time they were going to buy ten pigs, take them to the slaughterhouse, process them and bring them back to the market.

Moments later, 10 chubby adult pigs were kicked out of the farm and groaning their way to the pair's pickup truck. Cao Zongzhang was delighted to see the pigs. He said: "The steady gait of these pigs makes them look like good pigs. Pigs fed on clenbuterol are good-looking, but their legs are weak, their feet are weak, and they can't climb up the slope."

He said: "The steady gait of these pigs makes them look like good pigs. Pigs fed on clenbuterol are good-looking, but their legs are weak, their feet are weak, and they can't climb up the slope."

"A tag" is an ear tag. The reporter saw that each pig's ear is wearing a one-yuan coin size ear tag, printed with a QR code and code, staff take a scan with the code reader, can check the pig feeding, medication, quarantine and other information. The day I coughed, the medicine I took, and the dose I took were clearly marked.

Chen Xueyan, head of the Animal husbandry and veterinary station in Donghan town, Fuqing city, said the root causes of problems such as clenbuterol, drug residues and dead pork are all in the breeding process. Every pig is now born with ear tags to ensure that there is "no privacy" in the process of growing up. Every step is recorded, documented and traceable to eliminate the possibility of adding illegal drugs at the source.

"One certificate" is the certificate of qualified quarantine of origin. Just three days ago, staff at the animal husbandry and veterinary station gave the 10 pigs a comprehensive "physical examination", mainly for infectious diseases, parasites, clenbuterol and other illegal drugs. "If you have a mark or a certificate, you will be at ease. We are also afraid of buying problem pigs. If the pigs are found out, not only will they be confiscated, but they'll also have to pay a fine and even go to jail." Cao zongzhang said.

You need a pass to go anywhere without freedom.

On the way to the slaughterhouse, the reporter chatted with Cao zongzhang and learned that ear tags and certificates were not only his "reassurance", but also his "passport" for the next step.

The reporter asks: "fed the pig of clenbuterol, do not report to check, pull to abattoir directly not good?"

"Without ear tags and quarantine certificates of origin, slaughterhouses are afraid to accept them," he said.

"Can't you get a butcher and kill it yourself?"

"It cannot be sold in the market without a certificate from the slaughterhouse."

"Put a stall on the street to sell not good?"

"Someone checked, found a fine, a year of work in vain. Dare not."

During the talk, to the fuqing Jiangjing fixed-point slaughterhouse. The pig had another urine test immediately after being "proved". Chen weiwei, on site's official veterinarian, said clenbuterol should be tested again before the pigs are slaughtered. "if the results are positive, the whole batch of pigs should be treated harmless."

In the slaughtering workshop, Chen weiwei also has to do the final "look, smell, ask and cut" to the slaughtered pigs. Standing in the middle of the production line, she checks each pig's internal organs for lesions and takes samples if anything is wrong. If there is no problem, the words "qualified" will be printed, and the "certificate of qualified Animal quarantine" will be issued, and the slaughtering enterprise will issue the "Meat Quality Inspection Certificate" for the qualified products.

"A pig cannot enter a designated slaughterhouse without a qualified certificate at the time of production; Pigs cannot enter the market without a slaughter certificate. Every link is closely linked, creating a traceability system that makes it difficult for 'problem pork' to enter the chain." Chen Weiwei's introduction.

More than a decade ago, pigs fed clenbuterol, or diseased pigs, could be sold to markets through unscrupulous vendors and unauthorized slaughterhouses, but now, with improved traceability systems, it is impossible for 'problem pigs' to go wherever they want, said He Yun, head of the slaughterhouse.

Cao zongzhang and Li Zhengliang got "two certificates" and came out of the slaughterhouse at nearly 3am. They hummed a little song, wearing a hazy moonlight, in a twinkling of an eye to the town of high mountain farmers market. When he arrived at his stall, the first thing Cao did was to nail the two certificates to the wall.

"From time to time the MARKET Supervision Administration will come and check these two certificates. If you're worried about getting 'bad meat,' see if you have two certificates." Li Zhengping, who sells pork at a farmers' market, gave advice to reporters.

Heavy code to control chaos for a bite of "free heart"

In the early years, feed adulterated "clenbuterol", sick and dead pork into the market and other related accidents frequently exposed, the reasons without exception are all pointing to the loopholes in all links: illegal breeding, black-heart pig dealers, unauthorized slaughtering, without a license to market...

For more than a decade, Fujian has carried out special projects to control "table pollution" and build a "food safety project", which have been widely praised by the people.

At first, Fujian province "found a problem tightening a pocket" in food safety. To solve the dilemma that "eight big caps cannot control a pig," Fujian is the first in the country to set up a food safety joint conference composed of more than a dozen departments. Since then, local standards for clenbuterol testing and other policies have been successively introduced, and special financial funds have been arranged for clenbuterol testing, and private slaughter has been severely punished...

By setting up numerous checkpoints at all stages and guarding against death, Fujian has gradually established a supervisory system covering the whole process from farm to table, covering the consumption of pork in a "net of land and land".

"Over the past decade, the detection rate of clenbuterol in Fujian pigs has gone from relatively high to basically zero, and the food safety situation has changed significantly." "Said Zhong Anping, former director of the Fujian Provincial Food safety office. Statistics show that in 2016, urine samples from 419,000 batches of pigs were collected and tested in Fujian province, but clenbuterol was not detected.

In recent years, from the local government to the central government, the crackdown on food safety crimes has been more serious than one blow. In 2002, the Supreme People's Court and The Supreme People's Procuratorate issued a judicial interpretation, making it a criminal offense to sell and use clenoterol to raise pigs. In 2015, the new Food Safety Law, known as the "strictest in history", significantly increased the amount of administrative fines, and the amount of fines increased several times. In 2016, the Ministry of Agriculture investigated and dealt with 4,839 illegal slaughtering cases, destroyed 2,715 private slaughterhouses for indiscriminate slaughtering, and cleaned and closed 3,364 small pig slaughterhouses.

Liang Quanshun, chief animal husbandry and veterinary surgeon at the Fujian Provincial Department of Agriculture, said: "From farm to table, every level of supervision is closely related to people's 'bite of the tongue' safety. Only when food supervision is' tightened 'can people' relax their minds'."
