As the most important input in the breeding process, feed generally accounts for more than 70% of the raising cost. The quality of feed directly affects the benefits of breeding. Products such as concentrated feed, composite premix or feed additives purchased from the market must be supplemented with protein and energy raw materials such as fish meal, soybean cake (meal) and bran before they can be mixed into full price feed. When buying these feed ingredients, it is difficult to judge their quality from the appearance.
The harm caused by false and inferior feed raw materials to breeding is highlighted by abnormal conditions such as the decrease of mass diet, the decrease of growth performance, the lack of energy and the increase of mortality. Accordingly, in order to avoid buying false inferior feed, must sign purchase and sale contract when buying feed, want to keep good receipt or bill even a few sample to wait at the same time, so as the evidence of quality dispute in the future. Here are some simple identification methods for main raw materials:
1. fish meal
Qualified fish powder particle size is consistent, naked eye can see a large number of fish muscle fiber and a small amount of fish bones, scales, fish eyes, color is light yellow, yellow brown or yellowish green, hands hold loose feeling, not caky, not sticky, fish smell, no peculiar smell. Adulterated fish meal often mixed with cotton cake, vegetable cake, urea, sediment and other substances. There are two methods of identification:
(1) Sensory examination. Impurities of different shapes and colors can be seen in adulterated fish powder, rare or absent fish muscle fiber, fish bone, fish scales, fish eyes, etc., into powder or particles too fine, easy to agglomerate, hold a firm group, fish smell light, peculiar smell.
(2) Smell test. 20 grams of fishmeal and 10 grams of soybean cake can be put into a triangle bottle, add appropriate amount of water, close the bottle cap and heat for 15-20 minutes, remove the lid, if you can smell the smell of ammonia, it means that mixed with urea.
2. Bean cake (meal).
False bean cake (meal) often mixed with silt, corn or stone powder and other substances. There are two methods of identification:
(1) Water immersion method. Take 25 grams of sample into a bowl of 250 ml water, soak for 2~3 hours, and then gently stir, if mixed with sediment, stratification is obvious, the upper layer for bean cake, the lower layer for sediment.
(2) Identification of iodine. Take a small amount of samples on a clean white porcelain dish, flatten and spread thin. Drop a few drops of iodine. After 1 minute, if any substance turns blue and black, it means that there are some substances such as corn and rice husks mixed with it.
3. bran.
The adulterate material in bran often has talc powder, rice bran to wait. The identification method is: the hand is inserted into a pile of bran, after pulling out if there is white and not easy to shake off the fine dust, then mixed with talcum powder. With the hand grasp a bran strong grasp, can be a group of pure bran, if hold a sense of distension, it means mixed with rice bran.
Of course, in the process of breeding once the quality of feed problems, first should immediately replace the feed, and then quickly get in touch with the supplier, both sides negotiate to solve. If no agreement can be reached through negotiation, the parties to the dispute shall have the right to submit the application for arbitration and inspection of the feed products to a qualified quality inspection agency in accordance with relevant Chinese laws and regulations.
